SWIM CLUB GROUPS
Otters FUNdamentals 1
This level is designed for swimmers of any age (5+) who are learning to play and have fun in the water while swimming. Training intensity is generally low, focusing on basic skills and enjoyment. All swimmers must be able to swim the lenght of the pool (25m) unassisted and be comfortable in deep water. 30 minute practice.
- 5+ years old
- Comfortable in shallow and deep water
- Introductory understanding of front and back crawl
- Able to move forwards, backwards, float and tread water
Mondays 4:30pm, Wedensdays 4:30pm, Thursdays 4:30pm
Otters FUNdamentals 2
This level is designed for swimmers of any age (5+) who are able to compete all of the requirements for Fundamentals 1. Training intensity is generally low, focusing on developing skills and enjoyment. All swimmers must be able to swim multiple lengths of the pool (25m) and be comfortable in the deep water. 30 minute practice.
- 5+ years old
- Comfortable in deep water
- Able to swim basic front crawl, back crawl
- Able to tread water for 30 seconds
Mondays 5:00pm, Wednesdays 5:00pm, Thursdays 5:00pm
Otters Development
This program helps participants develop swimming abilities over the long term. The focus will be on developing skills for stroke efficiency (whether for competitive or recreational swimming). Training intensity varies, with a mix of moderate to high-intensity sessions aimed at improving performance. Diving and turns will be introduced and refined. 60 minute practice.
- Can focus for 60min / swim a legal 100IM / swim a min of 1000-2000m each class
- Full knowledge of Freestyle/Backstroke, have understanding of Breastroke/Butterfly
- Able to turn well and do a proper streamline with a min of 3 dolphin kicks
Mondays 5:35pm, Wednesdays 5:35pm, Thursdays 5:35pm
*Swimmers can swim 1-3 times a week if keen
Otters Performance
Bring on the swimming! This level typically involves higher intensity training, combined with longer training practices, aimed at achieving peak performance and developing life-long athletes. Swimmers will be either swimming for fitness, or for competition. SwimBC insurance fess will vary.
- Able to compete a legal 200m Individual Medley (and know what an IM is!)
- Full understanding of all four competitive strokes
- Ability to focus on technique that will be shared and taught
- Ability to train for the full 90 minute practice
- Able to swim 3000m or more in a practice
